I'm not really sure how this works, so I'm going to go with things that make me happy today. Trying to stay positive. Staying positive while WINTER IS TAKING OVER is important. I hate winter and so I'm trying to find grace in small things is what I'm saying. This wasn't my idea. I'm a joiner. It was Schumtzie's idea. She even started a social network here. Join if you'd like and we can all practice being more positive finding grace in the small things.
1. Winter doesn't last forever.
2. This is the first winter in years that I haven't felt the need to be medicated. (yet. keeping my fingers crossed.)
3. My AT&T UVerse and DVR
4. Forgotten tax return money that will arrive just in time to buy me a new computer to replace my 5 yr old laptop which is about one blue screen of death away from a meltdown.
5. Having a boy in my life that I feel comfortable enough with to show him my apartment
6. spiced tea
7. an unlimited number of recipes to try and the confidence to try them
8. grocery shopping from my couch
9. steak and roasted potatoes with Country Bob's sauce for dinner
10. Trivia nights with the boyfriend and MP
11. Impressing people with my cupcake baking skillz
12. laughing so hard at work that I fall down
13. a boyfriend that finds it charming that I fall down a lot
14. filling a wall with my photography

The only time I would consider where my parents live as quiet is when the fog rolls in and insulates the house from the rest of the world . Even the birds seem confused by the suddenly smaller world they are inhabiting and take a break from carrying on.
The air seems heavier and a walk through the yard will cover you in a light mist, eyelashes blinking against the wet. For once, this house in the middle of no where seems truly isolated and lonely. Hushed and waiting.
The quiet doesn't last, though. The sun will come out of hiding and burn off the fog. The birds will wake up from their naps and once again dive bomb each other in competition for the feeders making more racket than anything that small has a right to.
Nothing lasts forever. Life gets in the way. The sun comes out and the real world intrudes on my weather induced peace and quiet.

I've tried several times to write an entry about my music taste, you will soon see why this is so difficult. ;)
I've spent the last two days deathly ill....ok, not really, but I tend to get overly-dramatic about such things. I've had the flu and missed 2 days of work, which I HATE. I'm the dependable one, who always shows up and always gets things done, but I'm sure there will be a discussion about why I don't have a doctor's note. I've never gone to the doctor for the flu, ever. I mean, come on, it's the flu, not scarlet fever. It's not like they can do anything other than waste their time telling me to drink plenty of fluids and get some rest. Done and done. Sorry, that just irritates me. As soon as someone would like to pay for me to see a doctor for an everyday illness just so I can hand them a piece of paper verifying said illness, I would be happy to go. Until then, I'd be happy to let you come over and take my temperature. ;) I need to get out of retail. le sigh

Um, I don't know. It is currently spitting ice from the sky for the last time of the season (please? pretty please?)and I thought I would walk out on my little terrace to, I don't know, record the occasion.
Angel saw the door open and I could see her little eyes light up. "Outside? Outside Momma?" But, you know, it's cold and rather wet...she very quickly tired of that nonsense...

I haven't been outside once today and this is why...
0 people have something to say Posted by Bri at 11:27 PMEverything is covered in, well, magic. And I don't even like snow. But, there's something about living in the city, not having to worry about 3 foot drifts, having no where to be, and food in the fridge that.....isn't so bad. Happy first snow, St. Louis!!!!
